Thoughts on possible next local history post

Whilst researching a previous post ( Springwood Colliery) I came across a report in a newspaper in the 1860’s which involved everyday people , leading everyday lives – not rich ,famous or notorious, Just normal people leading an everyday life, and I was drawn in. I am still in two minds whether I could make a post of it, I asked Mrs W, and she said ” what ? That’s boring- can’t you find anything better? ” – That’s almost a challenge isn’t it ? History is about people – and this is about people. What do you think I should do ?

  1. Seems to me that everyday life 150 years ago will be so removed from present day life that its got to be interesting!

  2. Go for it. Too much “history” concerns the rich – and the reason most of them got rich in the first place was because ordinary people were working, suffering and dying to create that wealth.
